Hi all, a little sharing here ~

Looking at a church service note today, by Rev Gan from Camberwell church,sometime in January 2008.The title is " walk with God".I still remember very clearly that during the talk, Rev Gan has invited everyone in the service to make a decision to " walk with God" for the new year 2008 and after that, we all prayed together and I believe that moment many ppl in the service has decided to " walk with God". Sometimes though, life is full of challenges and we as human beings are always being tested. I think it is a great challenge for action to come louder than words, and of course a courageous and firm heart counts a lot in making a decision to "walk with God" Am sharing here a pretty good bible verse (Psalm 37: 5-6), I think it is a really good verse as an encouragement to all of us as God's earthly children:

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

As you remember how Jesus said goodbye to his friends, imagine you’re one of them. As yet the Spirit has not come and you don’t really understand what’s going on. Will you have to go back to fishing?

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

Paul writes to the Ephesians to encourage them and here he explains the significance of Jesus’ ascension recorded in Acts 1:1–11. The ascension in real life would have been a challenging and confusing event for the first disciples – as the story of the ascension can be for us too. We don’t know what happened exactly, but the technical details are unimportant. This is about the unfolding of God’s rescue story.

Paul prays for the Spirit of wisdom, revelation, deeper knowledge of God (v 17), understanding of our hope (v 18) and experience of God’s power (v 19). This power at work in us was revealed in Christ’s victory over death (v 20). What a prayer!

What matters most from the ascension story (v 20) is that Jesus was not removed from having influence on earth. The ascension took Jesus into the place of ultimate influence above everything else on earth and in heaven and in the whole of history (v 21). And all this power and authority that has been invested in Jesus is at work in the church (vs 22,23). We are to rely on the power of Jesus’ name in our life and witness. That’s the relevance of the story of Jesus’ ascension for us.

Good work Yeu Chyn. Sharing a light-hearted little story here, I guess some of you might be familiar with this story:


A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat."


"Is the man of the house home?", they asked.

"No", she replied. "He's out."

"Then we cannot come in", they replied.
In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.
"Go tell them I am home and invite them in!"
The woman went out and invited the men in"

"We do not go into a House together," they replied.

"Why is that?" she asked.

One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home."

The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. "How nice!!", he said. "Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!"

His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?"

Their daughter was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!"

"Let us heed our daughter's advice," said the husband to his wife.

"Go out and invite Love to be our guest."

The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest."

Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?"

The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!!!!!!"
